The pleasure of learning a new language is the diversity that it can offer to other language speakers. Spanish speakers are very kind, out-going and sympathetic people whom love to share with their families and speak for hours about every single anecdote of their lives.
Culture understanding is not easy, you need to open your senses and mind to different style lifes, music as flamenco, salsa, meringue and others, also a big selection of dishes , fruits and plants that have been used for years in some Spanish countries. The best way to start is learning the language and getting involved into the Spanish context.
